Grok Bot in 10 lines
  • What it is: Grok Bot is a team of always-on AI agents from SpaceXAI, the company formerly called xAI. Each Bot has its own cloud computer and keeps working when you step away. Confirmed
  • Launched: in beta on 11 August 2026, then widened to more plans on 26 August, enterprises on 3 September and shared Team Bots on 28 September. Confirmed
  • Not the same as @grok: the Grok chatbot answers questions. Grok Bot signs in to your apps and finishes jobs end to end. Confirmed
  • How you use it: you message a Bot like a colleague, from desktop or iPhone, and it comes back when the work is done or needs your approval. Confirmed
  • Learns by watching: ask a Bot to "follow along" once and it saves your workflow as a routine it can repeat. Confirmed
  • Works in teams: run several Bots at once, with a "chief of staff" Bot coordinating the others in a group chat. Confirmed
  • Who gets it: SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, plus Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams users. Bot usage is separate from your plan's chat limits. Confirmed
  • Model: Grok 4.7, SpaceXAI's flagship since 21 September, was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness. It costs $2 / $6 per million tokens in the API. Confirmed
  • Price of entry: SuperGrok costs about $30 a month; Heavy is about $300. Reported
  • For your site: Bots use a real browser, so a site agents can read and act on matters more than a robots.txt rule. Speculation

"Grok bot" means three different things depending on who says it: the Grok chatbot, the @grok account that replies on X, and since August 2026 a separate product actually called Grok Bot. This guide is about the last one, the agent product, and covers the rest of Grok where it matters.

It explains what Grok Bot does, how it works, what it costs, the model behind it, how it compares with OpenAI Dots and Meta Muse, the safety questions, and what it means if you want Grok to find, cite or use your website. The companion guide covers Meta Muse in the same depth.

Choose your depth

60 seconds: the 10 lines above and the naming table. 5 minutes: add how it works, pricing and Grok Bot vs Muse vs Dots. Full guide: keep going for Grok 4.7, the wider Grok family, safety and how to get cited by Grok.

1. What is Grok Bot?

Grok Bot is SpaceXAI's always-on AI agent product: a set of AI "teammates" that each run on their own cloud computer, sign in to the apps you use and finish multi-step jobs without you watching. SpaceXAI launched it in beta on 11 August 2026, after it began as an internal prototype that spread across the company. Confirmed (SpaceXAI)

SpaceXAI's own description: Bots "finish jobs end to end, and only come back when something needs your approval." They remember conversations, learn how you like things done, and work across apps, inboxes and websites, "including platforms with no clean API or MCP". Confirmed

The pitch is the difference between almost done and done. Most chat assistants hand you a draft. A Bot puts the work where a person would, in the actual tool: the CRM record updated, the ticket filed, the invoice processed. Confirmed

2. Grok Bot vs Grok vs @grok: which is which?

SpaceXAI sells several products with "Grok" in the name, and they do different jobs. This is the most common source of confusion in coverage.

ProductWhat it doesWhere you use it
Grok BotAlways-on agents with their own computer that finish jobs in your appsDesktop app (macOS first) and iOS
Grok (the assistant)Chat, search, images, video and voicegrok.com, iOS, Android
@grok on XThe Grok assistant answering when people tag it in postsX
Grok BuildA coding agent for building software and running parallel coding workflowsTerminal, web and mobile
Grok APIThe Grok 4.7 model and tools for developersdocs.x.ai

xAI became part of SpaceX in February 2026 and renamed itself SpaceXAI in July. Grok kept its name. SpaceX then completed its $60 billion acquisition of Cursor, the AI coding company, on 14 August 2026, which is why Grok Bot is bundled with Cursor's paid plans. Reported

3. How does Grok Bot work?

Each Bot runs on a persistent computer in the cloud with a browser and a terminal, signs in to the accounts you give it, and keeps working until the job is finished or it needs a decision from you. Confirmed

A computer of its own

Because the computer is always on, jobs don't stall when you close your laptop. A Bot uses apps and websites the way you would, so it can work with tools that have no API or plugin. Each user's work runs in its own isolated environment, and a Bot has no access by default. It reaches only the accounts you sign it in to. Confirmed

Message it like a colleague

There is no workflow builder to learn first. You send a Bot a message in a text thread on desktop or iPhone, and pick up the same thread on either device later. Confirmed

Teach it by letting it watch

The fastest way to train a Bot is to ask it to follow along the next time you do a task. It watches the steps, saves them as a routine, takes your corrections, and runs the routine on its own after that. Confirmed

Many Bots at once

SpaceXAI staff typically run several Bots in parallel, with a "chief of staff" Bot on top and a specialist for each job: inbox, expenses, recruiting, bug fixes, operations. Bots can message each other, share context in threads, and coordinate in a group chat, pulling you in only for judgment calls. Confirmed

Memory that builds over time

Bots keep context on how you like work done. SpaceXAI says that after a few tasks they pick up your voice and your edge cases, follow up on threads you dropped, and become more proactive. Confirmed

4. Team Bots, plugins and the X integration

Team Bots, launched on 28 September 2026, are shared Bots that a whole team works with, each built around a role and given four things: context, plugins, credentials and memories. Confirmed (SpaceXAI)

  • Context: files, instructions and skills, from brand guides to internal documentation.
  • Plugins: connections to apps such as Salesforce, Notion and GitHub, set up per person or for the whole team.
  • Credentials: secure access to third-party APIs that have no plugin.
  • Memories: what the Bot learns in the role, so it improves over time.

Each person's conversations with a shared Bot stay private, and the Bot keeps separate memories per user. Team Bots also get their own Slack handle, so a team can invite one into a channel. Confirmed

On 29 August, SpaceXAI added an X connector: Bots can search posts, read your timeline, check mentions and summarise what's happening on X. Paid Grok Bot users get free X API credits to start. Confirmed

One example worth noticing if you run a website

SpaceXAI's own Marketing Bot reviews drafts against brand guidelines and, once a content update passes review, "makes the change and posts a preview link in Slack for final sign-off". Agents are already editing websites and checking SEO on their own. That's useful if your team adopts it, and it raises the bar for review if it does. Confirmed

5. What can Grok Bot actually do?

SpaceXAI lists jobs Bots are doing for customers and its own teams. These are the company's examples, not independent tests. Confirmed

AreaExample job
SalesResearches accounts overnight, scores contacts, drafts email and LinkedIn messages in each seller's voice for approval
OperationsOnboards new hires, processes invoices received in Gmail, books work orders across Gmail, Slack and ServiceTitan
FinanceWatches vendor spend, usage and renewals to find savings. SpaceXAI says one Bot found over $100,000
SupportReads support email, connects to the payments provider and handles routine refunds within policy
EngineeringReproduces a bug in the product, files the ticket and hands the fix to a debugging Bot
WebBuilds a website, buys the domain, deploys it and adds redirect rules
Personal adminClears the inbox, audits subscriptions, joins meetings you can't make and sends notes

SpaceXAI says thousands of organisations, including Legora, Supermicro and ServiceTitan, adopted Grok Bot in its first weeks, and that most use is outside engineering. One insurer, Harper, says a Team Bot it built in 24 hours saved its customers over $120,000 by reinstating lapsed policies. Confirmed

6. How much does Grok Bot cost, and who can get it?

Grok Bot is included with SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy, and with Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams plans. It comes with its own usage allowance, so Bot work does not eat into your Grok or Cursor limits. Confirmed (SpaceXAI)

Which plans include Grok Bot is confirmed by SpaceXAI. The monthly prices are from pricing coverage, because the official plans page loads them dynamically. Check grok.com/plans before buying. Reported

Grok Bot launched as a macOS desktop app with an iOS app. SpaceXAI calls it a beta. Confirmed

7. The model behind it: Grok 4.7

Grok 4.7 is SpaceXAI's flagship model, released on 21 September 2026 for coding and knowledge work, with a 500,000-token context window and API pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. SpaceXAI says it trained Grok 4.7 to natively understand the Grok Bot harness. Confirmed (SpaceXAI)

Two cautions. These are SpaceXAI's own numbers. And the rivals in its chart are the previous generation: GPT-5.6 Sol and Fable 5.1, not GPT-6.1 Sol, Claude Opus 5.5 or Gemini 4 Argon, all of which launched around the same time. Grok 4.7's clearest advantage is price: it is in the same range as rivals on many tests at a fraction of their output cost. Speculation For how the newest rivals compare, see Gemini 4 Argon's benchmarks.

Grok 4.7's knowledge cut-off is May 2026. Like most models, it only knows about later events when a search tool is switched on. Confirmed

8. Everything else Grok can do in 2026

Grok Bot sits on top of a much wider product. SpaceXAI's 2026 releases include: Confirmed

  • Chat and search: answers with real-time search of the web and of posts on X.
  • Imagine: Imagine Image 2.0 for generating and editing images, and Imagine Video 1.5 for video up to 1080p from text, image and voice references.
  • Voice: Grok Voice Think Fast 2.0 for real-time speech conversations, plus Voice Transcribe 2.0.
  • Grok Build: a coding agent with memory and "workflows" that fan a task out across hundreds of parallel agents. It's available on every plan on web and mobile.
  • Build Mode: creates and shares websites, apps, games and dashboards from a prompt, in early beta for Heavy subscribers.
  • Automations: describe a job once and Grok runs it on a schedule or when an email arrives.
  • Office add-ins: Grok inside Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
  • Grokipedia: SpaceXAI's AI-written encyclopedia, listed among its products.
  • Everywhere models are sold: Grok 4.6 is also available through Microsoft Foundry, Amazon Bedrock, Google's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and GitHub Copilot.

9. Is Grok Bot safe to give access to your accounts?

Grok Bot is designed with isolated environments and no access by default, but it is a beta, and Grok has a record of safety failures that is worth knowing before you connect business accounts.

  • Isolation: each user's Bots run in a separate environment and reach only accounts you sign them in to. Enterprise plans add access, network and audit controls. Confirmed
  • Approvals: SpaceXAI's examples leave sends, discards and unsubscribes for you to approve. You set how much a Bot does alone. Confirmed
  • Compliance: reviews at launch noted no SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA or FedRAMP claims specific to Grok Bot. Check before using it with regulated data. Reported
  • Model safeguards: SpaceXAI says Grok 4.7 has an entirely new safeguard stack and tops LatchBio's biosafety benchmark at 62.4%. Confirmed
  • Track record: in January 2026, Grok was used to create sexualised images of real people, including children. Ofcom opened an Online Safety Act investigation into X, several countries temporarily blocked Grok, and X restricted image editing of real people. Reported (PA via Shropshire Star)

My advice is the same for any agent with its own computer: start with read-only accounts, require approval for anything that sends, pays or deletes, and review its activity for the first fortnight. How to run a computer-use agent safely has the full setup. Speculation

10. Grok Bot vs Meta Muse vs OpenAI Dots: what separates them

All three are always-on agents with their own cloud computer. They differ in who they are built for: Grok Bot for teams and work, Meta Muse for personal life and shopping, and OpenAI Dots for ChatGPT power users.

11. How to get your website found and cited by Grok

Grok cites sources only when it runs a search. That can be a web search, a search of posts on X, or both. So getting cited means being findable in both places and easy to quote. SpaceXAI's developer documentation confirms both search tools, and that citations come back only when a search tool runs. Confirmed (SpaceXAI docs)

What is confirmed

  • Grok has two separate search tools: web search, which searches and browses web pages, and X search, which searches posts, profiles and threads on X.
  • Without a search tool, Grok knows nothing after its May 2026 training cut-off, so fresh content reaches it only through search.
  • Grok Bot uses a real browser and signs in to sites like a person, so to your server its visits can look like ordinary browsing.

What is not confirmed

  • SpaceXAI does not publish how Grok ranks or chooses sources. Claims that it prefers the newest article, or active X discussion, come from SEO agencies, not SpaceXAI. Reported
  • Crawler directories list user agents such as "GrokBot" and "xAI-Grok", but SpaceXAI does not document them, and one log study found Grok fetches using ordinary browser user agents. Do not rely on robots.txt alone to allow or block Grok. Reported

What to do

  1. Be on X, not just the web. Grok's second search pool is X. Post your key findings, with the numbers, from a real account, and link the full article.
  2. Answer in the first sentence. Put the claim, the number and the date where a model can lift them. How to get cited by AI search covers the format.
  3. Show dates and update them honestly. Search-based answers favour content that is clearly current.
  4. Make the site usable by agents. Labelled forms, real buttons and no dead ends, because a Bot may be trying to book, buy or sign up for someone. The agent-ready website checklist is the starting point.
  5. Watch your logs, not just analytics. Agent visits can look human. Unusual browsing at night, or one session hitting every pricing page, may be a Bot.

None of this is Grok-only, which is the point: the same habits get you cited by Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude too. Speculation

Common claims, checked

"Grok Bot is just Grok with a new name." No. Grok is the chat assistant. Grok Bot is a separate agent product with its own computer and its own app.

"You need the $300 Heavy plan." Not since 26 August. Grok Bot is included with SuperGrok, at about $30 a month.

"Using Grok Bot burns your Grok limits." SpaceXAI says Bot usage is separate from your Grok and Cursor plan usage.

"Blocking GrokBot in robots.txt keeps Grok out." Not reliably. Agents browse as users, and SpaceXAI documents no crawler you can block.

12. Frequently asked questions

What is Grok Bot?

Grok Bot is an always-on AI agent product from SpaceXAI, the company formerly called xAI. Each Bot runs on its own cloud computer, signs in to the apps you use and finishes multi-step jobs, such as updating a CRM or processing invoices, coming back only when it needs your approval. It launched in beta on 11 August 2026.

Is Grok Bot the same as Grok?

No. Grok is SpaceXAI's chat assistant on grok.com, the mobile apps and X. Grok Bot is a separate agent product with its own app, in which agents work in your tools on their own. Both use SpaceXAI's Grok models; the latest, Grok 4.7, was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness.

How much does Grok Bot cost?

Grok Bot is included with SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and SuperGrok Heavy, and with Cursor Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams plans. SuperGrok is reported at about $30 a month and Heavy at about $300. Grok Bot has its own usage allowance, separate from your Grok or Cursor limits.

What can Grok Bot do?

Grok Bot can research and draft sales outreach, update CRM records, process invoices from email, handle routine refunds, file and fix bugs, build and deploy websites, clear an inbox and join meetings to take notes. It works in your apps and websites through its own browser and terminal, and learns repeated workflows by watching you do them once.

What are Team Bots?

Team Bots are shared Grok Bots that a whole team works with, launched on 28 September 2026. Each one is built around a role and given context, plugins, credentials and memories. Each person's conversations stay private, and a Team Bot can join Slack channels with its own handle.

Which model does Grok Bot use?

Grok Bot uses SpaceXAI's Grok models. The latest, Grok 4.7, released on 21 September 2026, was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness. Grok 4.7 has a 500,000-token context window, a May 2026 knowledge cut-off and API pricing of $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.

What is the difference between Grok Bot and Meta Muse?

Grok Bot is built for work teams and uses SpaceXAI's Grok models, with several coordinating Bots, workflow learning and shared Team Bots in Slack. Meta Muse is built for personal life and shopping, runs on Meta's Muse Spark models and has a free tier. Both run on their own cloud computers and ask before sensitive actions.

How do I get my website cited by Grok?

Grok cites sources only when it runs its web search or X search tools. To be cited, publish clear answers with numbers and dates in the first sentence, keep pages visibly current, share key findings from a real X account with a link, and make the site easy for agents to read and use. SpaceXAI does not publish how Grok ranks sources.

Who owns Grok now?

Grok is made by SpaceXAI. xAI became part of SpaceX in February 2026 and renamed itself SpaceXAI in July 2026, keeping the Grok brand. SpaceX also completed its acquisition of Cursor, the AI coding company, in August 2026, and Grok Bot is bundled with Cursor's paid plans.

The one thing to remember

Grok Bot is the agent, not the chatbot. It is aimed at teams that want work finished in their tools, and it is the cheapest of the always-on agents to try. Give it narrow access first.
